COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Three people were seriously injured in a multiple vehicle crash in Columbus Thursday morning.

Columbus Police Department officials were called to County Road 450 South near Country Road 100 West at around 6:15 a.m. after several vehicles reportedly crashed.

When the officers arrived, they found three seriously injured people. Steven Beavers (65) from Seymour, Maria Hernandez (39) from Columbus and Mariela Ramos Gonzalez (36) from Columbus were flown to a hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.

Investigators said Beavers was driving a Ford F150 East on Country Road 450 West in 1995 when he wiped a Honda Accord in 2019. The driver of the Accord, Douglas Meek (50) from Hope, crashed head-on with a Nissan Altima driven by Hernandez in 2001, injuring both her and Gonzalez.
