A new public work of art, “Vessel” by RDG: Dahlquest Art Studio, will be placed in Toledo’s Cherry Street Corridor.
The Arts Commission said in its announcement that installation began this week at the Cherry Street roundabout and Manhattan Boulevard. Construction is expected to be completed in May.
This is part of the Art in Public Places program in the Toledo Region. Funded by Mercy Health and administered by The Arts Commission on behalf of the City of Toledo’s One Percent for Art program.
“Vessel” is a 20-foot piece designed to be “a living beacon and landmark as travelers navigate the corridor”. Bright colors shine from the inside, making it possible to see both day and night. The features and design suggest various aspects of Toledo’s history and heritage.
