TOLEDO – Levi Gates gave Toledo everything they could on Monday, kicking off a home run, knocking out 15 batters in a full game on the hill for a 4-3 win at a Central 2B League baseball tilt in Cheese Town achieve.

Gates only allowed three hits and zero earned runs over seven innings, but Toledo still found a way to keep the game close for the duration.

“Levi Gates had the thing that gave them the lead,” said Toledo coach Bill Waag. “We came back and put up three of our own and I like that tonight. Before that we would kind of hold our heads down and we wouldn’t have that kind of fire. “

Tristan Percival was 2-4 on the plate for Adna and Gabe Slape added a double. After Gates stepped out of the courtyard in the third inning, the Toledo bats were brought to life, if only for a moment, just to get level again.

Justin Filla, Geoffrey Glass and Kaden Sellards all had goals in the game for Toledo, with Sellards also racing. Brannon Guyer would have scored a goal of his own in the third inning after finding an empty turf in the outfield that caused Jesse Towns to touch home plate, but the umpires found Guyer missed first base and called him do this on finish the inning and run off the board.

“I stepped right in the middle of the bag,” insisted Guyer after the game.
