WARREN – A Youngstown man was sentenced to six months in prison on Wednesday after a Trumbull County judge ruled he was ineligible for parole.
David E. DeWitt, 25, of Liberty Court, Youngstown, confessed in June of a domestic violence crime related to a September 4, 2020 incident on Davis Street, Brookfield, involving DeWitt, his brother, and his mother .
Defense attorney Roger Bauer said DeWitt had no other problems with his family while seeking probation for his client. However, Common Pleas Judge W. Wyatt McKay pointed out that DeWitt had two previous convictions for major felony convictions, was serving a previous prison term, and had shown no remorse for the incident.
McKay also added that DeWitt has been turned down by the Northeast Ohio Community Alternative Program, a rehabilitation program that puts defendants in jail instead.
