YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Ms. Juliet Lucas, 62, of Youngstown, left this life on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Ms. Lucas was born on November 10, 1958 in Youngstown to Julius and Bessie Equilla Miller.
She graduated from the Rayen School in 1977. She received her BA in Social Work from Youngstown State University and her MA in Social Work from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. She was currently working on her doctorate.

She was a licensed social worker with Mercy Health for over 20 years to date. She acquired numerous certifications in the field of social work with a focus on group therapy, case management and counseling. Juliet dedicated her life to helping others by working with nonprofits in the area that help people with chemical abuse and even dreamed of opening a local women’s shelter for abused women.
Ms. Lucas has been a devoted member of Nevel’s Temple COGIC since the early 1980s, where she was a licensed evangelist and missionary. She has held many Church positions including serving as missionary leader, Sunday School teacher, and anniversary captain of Team Victorious, where she successfully raised funds for the Church, to name a few.
She was also a loving caregiver for many. She loved decorating, shopping, and collecting extravagant hats and outfits.
She goes to keep her loving memory of her mother from Youngstown; three children, Darlena J. Lucas, Denzel K. Lucas, and Tina Smith; three brothers, Matthew (Ida) Smith, Donnie Smith, and William (Janice) Smith, all from Youngstown; four sisters, Equilla Miller and Doriska Hulsinger, both from Youngstown, Willie Mae Brimm and Betty (Sam) Walton, both from Detroit, Michigan, and many families and friends.
Her father preceded her in death; Brother Robert Miller and nephew Robert Edwards.
The visit will take place on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Nevels Temple COGIC. The funeral will follow at 12:00 p.m. Due to the pandemic, all guests are asked to wear masks and keep their distance.
