Houston tennis swept by meeting Cincinnati on Tuesday at the Barbara Wallace Winston tennis facility, earned his eighth win in the year.

The Cougars dominated the afternoon, winning both doubles needed for the point and going through the singles, winning the three needed to end the day and leaving the remaining three unfinished.

After a rain delay of about 45 minutes, the doubles were over almost quickly, and UH took the afternoon’s first match win from the pair of Senior Phonexay Chitdara and newcomer Gabriela Giraldo.

The pair defeated the Bearcat pair of Redshirt senior Kim Gintrand and Redshirt junior Ioana Guna with a 6: 3 victory to achieve the last required double.

UH was able to secure the point seconds later with the dominating pair of senior Mimi Kendall-Woseley and newcomer Laura Slisane and defeated Cincinnati’s Redshirt junior Alexia Coutino and Redshirt newcomer Cassie Mclay 6-2.

The singles started with UH newcomer Blanca Cortijo Parreno, who beat Coutino with a (6-1, 6-1) win that made her dominate from start to finish.

Sophomore Azul Pedemonti drove to another Cougar victory with a (6: 0, 6: 3) win over Cincinnati Redshirt newcomer Kelli Niehaus. Pedemonti has now won every game since Texas A&M in January.

Kendall-Woseley would win the clincher against Gunu to give Houston a 4-0 win and the Cougars to improve to 8-3 year-on-year, giving them their second conference win.

Activities on Seniors Day were postponed due to weather conditions and moved to another date.

The Cougars will travel to New Orleans to compete against another conference opponent in Tulane, along with Southeastern Louisiana, which will wrap up next weekend.
