TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Residents and local leaders will gather at Scott High School on April 17 to discuss the rise in community violence in recent months.
Toledo has been plagued by gun violence and murders, especially since last summer, which led to the creation of an gun violence initiative led by JaJuan Armor.
“When I grew up in Toledo, people who carried guns and shot guns were 18 to 24. Now it’s 13 to 16,” Armor said. “It’s wonderful. I met with two groups of children, a play for children. One child was 16 and they all had guns.”
Armor has identified the areas of Junction-Englewood, Lagrange and Garfield-Starr as areas highly exposed to gun violence.
