Toledo man pleads responsible for importuning | Information

A Toledo man charged with hiring an undercover police officer pleaded guilty.

Timothy Michael Wilson, 52, appeared in the courtroom of Wood County Common Pleas Judge Matt Reger on Tuesday.

He was charged on February 3 with insulting and disseminating content harmful to minors, both of which were fifth-degree crimes.

The distribution fee is dismissed upon conviction.

Reger said the intrusive charge could justify a maximum of 12 months in prison but was neither mandatory nor alleged. However, since it is a sexual offense, he could impose a prison sentence despite a state recommendation for community control.

Wilson is also required to register as a Level I sex offender, which means he must register annually for 15 years.

Wood County’s assistant prosecutor Brian Boos said the crimes occurred December 11-29, 2020.

Wilson used the Whisper app to contact what he thinks was a 14-year-old girl who was actually a police officer in Perrysburg, Boos said.

Boos said Wilson made various requests for milkshakes and posted a nude picture on the account.

He also posted obscene videos on Snapchat, according to court records. On several occasions, he admitted that the person he thought he was talking to was in high school and not old enough to get their driver’s help.

While Wilson lives in Toledo, the news got to Wood County where he was planning to travel to engage in sexual activity, Boos said.

The sentencing is scheduled for August 31st.
