CLEVELAND – The Detroit Tigers optioned infielder Zack Short for Triple-A Toledo after the game on Sunday.

Infielder / Outfielder Niko Goodrum will be activated from the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s game in Baltimore.

Shortly committed two field errors in the 7-5 defeat on Sunday against the Cleveland Indians as his recent offensive battles shifted to his normally safe defenses.

Short, 26, played semi-regularly at Shortstop since his call-up for his fourth club assignment at the end of June. Initially, he provided a boost both offensively and defensively. But Short is 0-for-23 with 12 strikeouts in his last nine games.

Goodrum, 29, has missed the last three weeks with a calf injury. He has hit .220 with a .637 OPS in 230 record appearances this year.

Since Short is out of the picture for the time being, Goodrum will likely share the time with Harold Castro and possibly Willi Castro at the shortstop.
