Post-mortem reveals lady’s loss of life on South Facet of Columbus was from gunshot

An autopsy revealed that a 46-year-old woman his body was found in a South Side apartment died of a gunshot wound.

A maintenance worker called 911 at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday after discovering Felecia Lane was unresponsive in her apartment in the Columbus Park apartments on Alum Creek Drive. First responders on the 2100 block of Winslow Drive pronounced Lane dead at 2:20 p.m., and circumstances at the scene led police to believe Lane’s death was suspect.

Homicide detectors later ruled Lane’s death was a murder, marking the 40th murder of 2021 in Columbus. Investigators initially failed to disclose how Lane died, and an autopsy was performed on Wednesday.

No information was released on any suspect. It’s also unclear how long Lane was dead before her body was found.

Anyone with information can call Columbus’ Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
