TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Whether we’re in a pandemic or not, moms can find it difficult to find the support and community they need. The Greater Toledo Women’s Center has been building friendships and parental support since 1984. Now it invites all mothers in the region who want to connect virtually to their upcoming open house.
The center’s goal is to provide parents with a break from the mental exhaustion brought about by living in the pandemic. The majority of their children are now home all day. Now they are finding creative virtual ways to connect with their community, like quiz nights and virtual seminars on positive parenting.
“I think the most important thing is that it keeps me healthy and I think that’s important,” says Anne-lise Coueri, PR co-chair of the Greater Toledo Women’s Center. “You know, we all sit at home with our kids around the clock, which is a lot harder than you think.”
Anne-Lise just moved to the US shortly before the lockdown and says the community was her personal “life jacket” that made her very comfortable during this time.
“I mean, I can’t even imagine what it would have been like if I hadn’t had any friends or just been home without ever meeting or talking to anyone,” explains Anne-Lise.
The virtual open day will take place on Wednesday, February 10th and Thursday, February 11th at 8:30 p.m. You can participate on your website.
