Gun pictures ring out at Savage Park in central Toledo

Police and firefighters are investigating near the basketball court in Savage Park, Nebraska and City Park.

TOLEDO, Ohio – Police cordoned off much of Savage Park in central Toledo and investigated near the basketball court Sunday night.

JoJuan Armor, with the mayor’s initiative to end gun violence, confirmed that shots had been fired at the park.

Toledo Police sources say one person was injured in the shooting, but the extent of their injuries is unclear.

Witnesses say the park was playing a basketball game when shots were fired.

Harvey Savage, a candidate for Toledo city council, says he was at the game. He estimates that there were around 200 to 300 people there.

Savage describes the mood of the evening: “It was generally good. All children were given free goodies. I got a hot tamale. Basketball was played.

A witness who was in the park at the time told WTOL 11 that his car was hit by several bullets.

The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m.

The CityPark League had planned a basketball game in the park on Sunday at 6 p.m.

It is unclear whether anyone was shot at this point.
