TOLEDO, Ohio – Several people were injured in a shootout during a major block party early Monday morning in central Toledo.

More than four victims were shot dead on Lawrence Avenue near Wall Street, a local Toledo police officer said. The police do not currently know how many victims there were.

Our on-site WTOL 11 team reports a large presence of police and fire departments from multiple agencies including the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Toledo Police, and Toledo Fire.

Sheriff’s office crews were dispatched to help contain and block the scene while others were sent to multiple hospitals, according to a sergeant from the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office at 1:40 p.m. OSHP also responded to help control the crowd.

It is not known whether a suspect is in custody or what may have caused the shooting.

A witness tells us that hundreds of people were at that party before the bullets started flying. Detroit Avenue has been completely closed to all traffic between Delaware and Collins.
