MUNCIE, Ind. – The Cardinals (11-3, 1-2 MAC) are back on track today after taking an impressive 6-1 win over Toledo (4-5, 0-3 MAC) in the Mid- American Conference had booked this afternoon at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.

Newbie Sajin Smith took the win for Ball State while his teammates Eli Lord, Parrish Simmons, Thibault de Negri and Danilo Kovacevic also contributed to the BSU’s six-point defeat against the missiles. All five cardinals won in straight sets against their respective opponents.

The Cardinals took their first win of the day in doubles # 2 when de Negri and Simmons blew through their match after beating the Rockets 6-2, Max Skaer and Luis Kleinschnitz.

Ball State had strong leads in first and third place, but the colon would ultimately be claimed by Herran and Bonin, who won on the three points after beating Thawin Suksathaporn and Wojciech Szczesny 6-4.

Herran, who leads the Cardinals in singles this season, improved his overall record to 10-1 after giving up just two games against Szczesny for a 6-2, 6-0 win in fifth place.

After that, it was a domino effect as the Cardinals defeated the Rockets individually and Smith scored the match point after a 6-3, 6-1 win over Adam Kovac in the No. 4 singles.

The Ball State men’s tennis team will be taking a short break from the MAC game this weekend when the Cardinals Butlers greet them at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 27th.
