The Cardinals took their first win of the day in doubles # 2 when de Negri and Simmons blew through their match after beating the Rockets 6-2, Max Skaer and Luis Kleinschnitz.
Ball State had strong leads in first and third place, but the colon would ultimately be claimed by Herran and Bonin, who won on the three points after beating Thawin Suksathaporn and Wojciech Szczesny 6-4.
Herran, who leads the Cardinals in singles this season, improved his overall record to 10-1 after giving up just two games against Szczesny for a 6-2, 6-0 win in fifth place.
After that, it was a domino effect as the Cardinals defeated the Rockets individually and Smith scored the match point after a 6-3, 6-1 win over Adam Kovac in the No. 4 singles.
