SCHWARZBURG – After their perfect three-game home grandstand at Thompson Field, the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team will set their unbeaten record outside of Blacksburg on Sunday, August 29th, when the Hokies visit Cincinnati to kick off the Bearcats at 1pm. The game on Sunday in Gettler Stadium will be broadcast live on ESPN +.
THREE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
• Feel the heat: Virginia Tech are set to start their seventh 3-0-0 start in Chugger Adair’s first eleven seasons as the Hokies’ head coach. Tech’s most recent win was nothing short of spectacular as the Hokies overtook Elon 7-1 and scored seven or more goals for the fifth time in program history. Nicole Kozlova (two goals, assist) included in three of Tech’s four goals within the first 20 minutes of play and became the second player in the program to achieve a five-point performance within the last five seasons (Tori Powell). Under Chugger Adair, the Hokies also scored their second-highest goal difference at the start of the season in three games and exhausted the +10 margin against their opponent.
• Series history: Sunday’s matchup in Queen City marks the third ever meeting between Virginia Tech and Cincinnati. The Hokies are eager to preserve their pristine history against the Bearcats after having prevailed twice for no consideration. Tech won the first series meeting 4-0 in the opening round of the 2015 NCAA tournament and played back at home during the 2019 regular season (2-0). Nicole Kozlovas The first of 10 career goals was scored against Cincinnati – part of their team-leading five-goal campaign. The Hokies will perform for the first time at the Gettler Stadium.
• Traveling: Virginia Tech has set a 15-4-0 record in the last 19 non-conference regular season games since the start of the 2019 season. Without the ACC opponents, the Hokies are unbeaten (5-0-1 record) in their last six real-life street competitions of the regular season.

Virginia Tech will return to the Commonwealth for a few games at the James Madison as part of the Fairfield by Marriott Invitational. The Hokies will meet the hosts Dukes on Thursday, September 2nd (5pm) and defending champion Santa Clara on Sunday, September 5th at 11am
