Sykes runs for Toledo metropolis council amid federal bribery probe

TOLEDO, Ohio – Banned Toledo City Councilor Larry Sykes is not on the council alleged bribes for votes goes through federal court, filed documents to run for council again.

The Lucas County Electoral Committee confirmed Thursday that Sykes had submitted the necessary documents to run for the seat again.

The four councilors accepted suspensions from their council positions, and in their place a judge appointed Cerssandra McPherson, Vanice Williams, Tiffany Preston Whitman and John Hobbs III. McPherson and Whitman are running for their seats again, while Williams and Hobbs can run for re-election in two years. It was also learned on Wednesday that Hobbs is under investigation for alleged abuse of a state vehicle for personal business during his tenure in his capacity as inspector for the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board.
