Saturday vigil deliberate for 24-year-old lady gunned down in Cleveland

CLEVELAND – Family and friends of Destiny Johnson, a 24-year-old woman who was fatally shot and killed in Cleveland earlier this year, will gather on Saturday night to honor her memory and seek justice for her death.

The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Kerruish Park, 17218 Tarkington Ave., Cleveland

At around 3:20 a.m. on February 6, officers were called to the 1800s block on East 12th Street for reports of a female shot on the ninth floor of a building.

When officers were on site, they found a 24-year-old woman on a stairwell with multiple gunshot wounds, who was later identified as Johnson by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Preliminary information shows that Johnson attended a large party in two apartments in the building. During the party, an argument broke out between women and Johnson went. Police believe the gunman chased the victim and shot her as she entered the stairwell.

The shooting is under investigation.
