Police: Grove Metropolis murder suspect dies after leaping from Columbus YMCA shelter window as police serve warrant


Grove City Police said a fatality was reported Wednesday at Motel 6 on Stringtown Road and the female victim was previously related to the suspect.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A suspect wanted for a murder in Grove City died after jumping out of a window at a YMCA animal shelter on West Long Street, according to Columbus police.

Columbus police told 10TV they were helping Grove City police execute an arrest warrant for the suspect who was on the seventh floor of the shelter.

Police said when officers opened the door, he jumped and landed on a rooftop on the third floor.

Officials tried CPR, but police said the man was pronounced dead shortly after 10 p.m.

Grove City Police told 10TV that a death was reported at Motel 6 on Stringtown Road on Wednesday and the female victim had previously been in a relationship with the suspect.

The suspect and the victim have not been identified as police are still notifying the next of kin.
