Waverly Police are investigating a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred over the weekend.

In a press release on Monday, Waverly’s interim police chief John Winfield said that police were called to St. Mary’s Lane at 11:38 p.m. on Sunday and found the victim Brain Hubbard III with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment.

The suspect has been identified as Derrick Lansing. He was quickly discovered, safely detained, and charged with assault.

When the investigation is complete, the case will be referred to the Pike County Attorney’s Office.

Local witnesses said Lansing and Hubbard had an argument before the shooting.
