CLEVELAND – Cleveland music rock icon Michael Stanley, who died in March after battling lung cancer for months, will be remembered with a 2,200-foot, large-format tribute mural on Payne Avenue in the city’s Midtown neighborhood.

Graffiti HeArt, an organization that promotes commissioned graffiti art, will host the How Do I Love Thee Tour in August, which will feature 15 murals by Cleveland artist WRDSMTH in August, including the one in honor of Stanley.

The tour was inspired by the late Greek-American mother of the President and founder of Graffiti HeArt, Stamy Paul, who shared the poem “How do I love you” with her husband Harry in a love letter in the 1940s. Her love for Cleveland and her family will live on through the mural tour, Paul said.

Born and raised in Cleveland, WRDSMTH’s love for Stanley began when he interned at TV 8, assisting the creative team on the show PM Magainze. There he met and worked with Stanley, whom he described as a “friendly, sociable, personable guy”.

“Kind of cool that I can call a legend my friend,” said WRDSMTH.

“The tour becomes a space-creating opportunity that encourages the community, street art enthusiasts and visitors to explore the city and look for the murals, making it a touring experience and yet another street art destination. More WRDSMTH -Hiking locations include Lakewood, Greater Collinwood, Gateway District, University Circle, St. Clair Superior, Campus District and Cleveland Heights to name a few, along with several participating partners such as RTA, Cleveland Metroparks and Cleveland Institute of Art, “said Paul .

WRDSMTH, who attended Miami University, moved to Chicago before moving to Los Angeles where he began experimenting with street art. Early in the morning he ventured out to put on what has become his trademark – typewriters with a page over them.

As someone who now spends his time in London, he looks forward to making a name for himself in Cleveland.

WRDSMTH will install the series in the week of August 6th to 14th.
