The next Engage Toledo Waste Disposal and Recycling event will be held at Rogers High School on Saturday, May 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

In addition, the Toledo Human Relations Commission’s Community and Neighborhoods Committee is holding a community cleanup in connection with the garbage and recycling event. The community cleanup begins at 9:00 am, also at Rogers High School, 222 McTigue Dr., and is moving to the neighborhoods around the school. Bags and gloves are provided by Keep Toledo / Lucas County beautiful. Masks are required to attend the to clean up.

Acceptable items for the Engage Toledo Drop Off Refuse and Recycling event are electronic waste; Televisions and CRT monitors; up to 10 tires on or next to the rim, but no commercial tires; Documents; Housewares; Dress; Toys; bulky items and refuse. Latex paint is accepted for $ 1 per gallon. Large devices are not accepted.

The city has teamed up with The Greater Toledo Skills Center for the event this Saturday and June 19th at Scott High School. Durable medical equipment will be collected from the Ability Center. For a list of accepted items, see this link. The items are disinfected by employees of the Ability Center and passed on to people with disabilities.

The times for each event this year will vary, which is new compared to previous years. There are visibly marked lanes for traffic flow as well as volunteers in identifiable clothing to help participants get to appropriate locations. Residents should follow all signs and instructions.   • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 10, Keyser Elementary, 3900 Hill Ave.
  • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 17 at Whitmer High School, 5601 Clegg Dr.
  • 9am to 1pm, July 24th, Manhattan Plaza, 553 East Manhattan Blvd.
  • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 31 at Friendship Park, 2930 131 St.
  • 9 am to 2 pm, August 7th at DeVeaux School, 2620 West Sylvania Ave.
