Margaret “Marge” Rose Baranoski

Margaret “Marge” Rose (Wenzel) Baranoski, 89 years old, from Toledo Ohio, died on July 18, 2021.

Marge was born on February 23, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Martha (Kordas) Wenzel. She married Thomas R. Baranoski on January 12, 1952 in the Catholic Church of St. Adalbert.

Marge grew up with her four siblings (Rosemarie, John, Phyllis and Paul) in the old north of Toledo. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1950, her mother encouraged her to attend the Chicago Institute of Art, but chose not to attend.

Marge dreamed of becoming an artist, and it showed all of her life. Everyone who knew her knew that she was an artist in everything she did. Marge showed her artistic talent at Community Chest (United Way) and Champion Spark Plugs through her jobs and in her home inside and out. She was also an artist at home, not only in the kitchen, as a cook and baker and in her creations through sewing, but also in her garden with her flowers. This was her way of teaching and serving her arts to others as she raised her children Mark, Mary Ellen, and Susie.

When her children grew up and moved out, Marge continued to work outside the home and found many ways to serve her community. She was an active member of her high school fraternity, played golf weekly, and volunteered at various locations including the Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo Hospital, Red Feather Campaign, and GESU Parish, altar cloth washing and burial ministry. She was also a long-time member of the Black Swamp Hosta and Daylily Society and the Maumee Valley Herb Society, where she was a historian.

Marge and Tom traveled with the kids to Rifle Lake, Michigan, many places in Canada each summer where they usually camped well outside of Toledo. The travel time increased after her retirement by exploring national parks, through Elderhostel programs and numerous train journeys.

Marge looked back on her life with great pride and affection. However, today if you asked her if she could go and do something it would be to go to a casino to play and have lunch. She was a winner in everything she did and she knew it. However, we know we were the real winners because it was ours.

Marge’s survivors are her loving children Mark (Emily Eby) Baranoski, Mary Ellen (Calvin) Babich and Susan (James) Phillips. Grandson, Jennifer Phillips, Anthony (Melinda) Phillips and Mia (Timothy) Knicely. In addition, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren survived. Marges husband; Parents and their siblings Rosemarie Wenzel, John (Carole) Wenzel, Paul (Lillian) Wenzel and Phyllis (Alfred) Michalak preceded her in death.

The visitation will take place on Thursday, July 22, 2021, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Urbanski Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Road Toledo, Ohio, where the prayer service begins at 7:30 p.m. with a live feed You can follow at (https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/1631408042). He is buried in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Marges family would like to thank the many carers and visitors who have helped make their last days more enjoyable. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Alzheimer’s Association or St. Vincent DePaul in the Gesu Catholic Church for memorial services.
