CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland police are investigating after a 49-year-old man was found shot dead in a field on the city’s east side early Sunday.
The officers were called to the intersection of East 97th Street and Elwell Avenue in Cleveland’s Buckeye-Woodhill neighborhood at around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday. Cleveland Police Spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said. Police found a man in a local field with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.
The man was taken to university hospitals by paramedics, where he died, Ciaccia said. His identity will be revealed as soon as his family is notified.
The Cleveland homicide detective learned that the man was in a parked car on nearby Woodhill Avenue shortly before the shooting. People in the neighborhood told the detectives they heard gunshots but didn’t see the witnesses, Ciaccia said.
