Excessive-speed crash kills one in Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo police say a high-speed accident ended early Saturday morning with a dead person.

It happened at the corner of Bancroft and Auburn around 2:00 a.m.

A traffic accident reconstructor was called to the scene when officers arrived. Through the investigation, they found that 32-year-old Lerhonda Norwood was driving south on Auburn with 28-year-old passenger Malik Smith. Norwood turned left into Bancroft and was hit from behind by a vehicle owned by 36-year-old Christopher Hayes. Police believe Hayes was traveling at high speed. Hayes’ vehicle drove into a power pole. He didn’t survive the crash.

Norwood and Smith were not injured. The investigation is still ongoing.
