Solheim Cup organizers said they continue to work with the Toledo-Lucas County Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Health to follow CDC guidelines and recommendations regarding COVID-19.
“As the CDC recommends everyone, vaccination is the best protection against serious illness caused by COVID-19, and although participation is not required, we recommend that Solheim Cup participants get vaccinated,” said a press release on Thursday .
Masks are recommended and for those who are not fully vaccinated, organizers recommend wearing a mask at all times, especially in indoor public spaces.
The CDC’s position is that the risk of transmission in the open air is minimal. Based on supporting evidence, the CDC made the following statement: “If you want to spend time with people who do not live with you, the outdoors is a safer choice. You are less likely to be exposed to COVID-19 while doing outdoor activities, even without the use of masks.
The Solheim Cup golf tournament itself is an outdoor event where social distancing is possible, organizers said.
