Mahle celebrates its best start to the 2021 season on May 29th at Wrigley Field. The 26-year-old right-handed man threw five innings of a hit, knocked out baseball, went only one and hit eight. Earlier before that in Washington, DC, Mahle threw baseball in 5.1 innings, allowing only three hits and one walk. He actually hits a lot better on the road than at the Great American Ball Park, with an ERA of 1.47 in 36.1 innings compared to an ERA over seven at GABP.
Mahle is most successful with his forked finger. He only throws it about 12 percent of the time and almost always at left-handed people, but he has a whiff rate of about 36.7% with this throw. This is an increase from the 2020 season when its puff rate was just 22 percent.
CARDINALS
St. Louis announced the starter of today’s game just today. You will turn to rookie Johan Oviedo for his fifth start of the year and sixth appearance. He last served for the Cardinals on May 14 and 28, and went 11 batter with just three strikeouts in 6.1 innings over those two starts. He made an intermittent start for Triple-A Memphis and went just one batter over 5.1 innings on May 21.
Oviedo has had some hits against right-handers this year holding an average of .172. But he’s struggling with the walks and right-handed people have a percentage of .359 against him. Left-handed people hit .273 against him with a .385 on base percentage, and they hit .455 too. Lefties also have more walks than strikeouts against him this year.

We’ll have to wait and see if this is more of a permanent situation, but after giving Eugenio Suárez some time in the leadoff spot, manager David Bell got him back on 6th to star for the Reds today.
Alex Blandino on the injured list with a broken hand
This morning the Reds put Alex Blandino on their 10-day injured list with a broken hand. Blandino was pitched by Jake Woodford last night. The Cardinals pitching team has now beaten seven Cincinnati batter in this series. This season they lead the free world in hit batterns. You’ve plunked 47 doughs this year. Only the boys beat 35 (they have 40).
Reliever Ashton Goudeau has taken the place on the 26-man roster for the day. He had been the planned starting pitcher for Triple-A Louisville tonight.
Hunter Greene and Tony Santillan with double-digit strikeouts on Friday
Two of the top prospects for the Cincinnati Reds hit the hill last night. Tony Santillan posted a career with 13 thugs in a 7-inning aggregate game for the Triple-A Louisville Bats. Hunter Greene took the hill in Double-A and racked up 10 more strikeouts as he increased his league lead total to 51 in the season (in 35 innings) for Chattanooga.
