CINCINNATI – The Bengals officially signed former Ohio State punter Drue Chrisman on Friday morning. The 23-year-old was one of six vacant vacant agents who landed in Cincinnati.
Chrisman is from Queen City. He attended LaSalle High School and decided to return to his hometown to compete in special teams.
Will he be the Bengals’ punter in 2021? Former pro bowler Kevin Huber signed a one-year contract to stay in Cincinnati earlier this off-season.
Chrisman is talented but beating Huber will be a lot easier said than done.
Cincinnati could become the capital of America if another kid comes out of his hometown [Huber is also from Cincinnati] develops into a professional bowler.
Chrisman has special qualities that NFL teams look for in a punter, including a strong leg and the ability to nail the ball within the 10-yard line. However, the best kicks of his career may not have resulted in football. Check out his “kick it” video below.
The video was completed while he was in college with the Buckeyes. Is Chrisman’s video more impressive than the new Bengals kicker? Evan McPherson’s kick that went viral? This is a debate that may need to take place – especially if both players make up the Bengals’ 53-man squad.
