DC United vs. FC Cincinnati: WHAT TO SEE?
With veteran winger Paul Arriola and center-back Donovan Pines still on the US men’s national team at the Gold Cup, DC United will be hoping for its other seasoned leaders to join forces. Such was the case when attacking winger Julian Gressel, who was named Man of the Game and MLS Team of the Week after an outstanding performance against the Red Bulls.
Gressel had the only assist in the game and should have had two if Ola Kamara had a chance similar to the one he had on the 27th. With eight crosses, four big chances and four interceptions, United manager Hernan Losada will be on the lookout for more of that on Saturday night.
Another key factor for all three points was goalkeeper Bill Hamid, who will be 74 with some key stops. That is good for the eighth all-time in MLS history, and his experience of keeping the ball out of the net will stand out against one Again come in handy for hungry Cincinnati cadres.
DC United vs. Cincinnati FC: PLAYERS TO SEE
Ola Kamara, striker, DC United (10 games, 7 goals, 2 assists): A week after DC United Kamara advanced to penalties, he calmly turned a slight 1v1 chance against the Red Bulls and probably could have had a few more. He will try to complete his record for the black and red on Sunday.
Luciano Acosta, striker, FC Cincinnati (12 games, 4 goals, 3 assists): The former DC United star is taking off with Cincinnati this season and scored an unreal curling performance in the top right corner against Atlanta last week. Additional motivation against his old club will certainly make United’s backline suspicious.
