Brayden Fox to play school soccer with Toledo Rockets

Archbishop Hoban graduate Brayden Fox has changed his plans for college and will now play football for Toledo on a scholarship.

Fox announced its decision to become Rocket on July 3, after originally signing to Rutgers in April 2020. Fox graduated from Hoban in 2021.

Fox, who weighs 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, was named wide receiver as a junior and senior at Hoban after writing as a freshman and undergraduate at GlenOak.

Fox helped Hoban’s soccer team set an 11-0 record in 2020 and win the Division II state championship with his contributions as wide receiver and punt returner.

“I’m driving to Toledo with excitement,” Fox wrote in a text message. “I am very blessed for this opportunity. At this point I am very attuned to my mind and body and I know what I have to achieve while I am here on this earth. This decision was bigger than myself.”

Fox ended its senior season with 21 receptions for 301 yards and four touchdowns. Hoban defeated Kent Roosevelt, Mayfield, Cleveland Benedictine, Hudson, Avon and Massillon in the playoffs to win a state title.

Fox had three receptions for 58 yards and two touchdowns against Mayfield in a regional quarterfinal; and five receptions for 85 yards and a TD against Avon in a state semifinal.

Fox caught 43 passes for 864 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior when Hoban won 11-2 playoff wins in Division II against Alliance and Mayfield and one loss to Massillon in a regional final.

Hoban soccer coach Tim Tyrrell praised Fox for being “a very hard working person” who “always has great playing skills when he’s on the field”.

When Fox joined Rutgers last year, he also held scholarship offers from Michigan State, Akron, Ball State, Buffalo, Miami, Ohio, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Liberty, Air Force, and Army.

Fox has six family members who have played college football: his father (Derek Fox, Penn State), his uncle (Dustin Fox, Ohio State), and four great uncles who each played in Ohio State (Dick Kuhn, Ken Kuhn, Mark Taurus and Tim.). Fox).
