RAINIER, Washington. – After Toutle Lake manager Cortney Byman was banned for most of his game against Toledo, he wanted to get more out of their line-up and the Ducks dropped 12 hits in a 13-3 win over Rainier (Wash) in five Innings.

“Our bats came alive and they stayed hot and never stopped,” Byman said.

The Mounties put up three runs at the end of the first inning to take an early lead from three runs, but the Ducks came back with a three of their own in the top of the second to get back to the front. Two innings later, Toutle Lake rushed to seven in the top quarter and then added two in the fifth to break the 10-run threshold and end the game early.

Kendal Barnnett went 2-3 with a double and two RBIs, Karlie Smith went 3-3 with a triple and three RBIs, and Makinnley Byman went 4-4 with a triple and three run-in runs.

“I’m very pleased with the way the girls approached the plate,” said Coach Byman.

Jasmine Smith threw all five innings for the Ducks and knocked out the Mounties after their three in the first.

The win ends Toutle Lake’s regular season (8-4). The ducks will open the postseason game next week.

The great beginning drives Toledo

TOLEDO – Toledo Softball hit the charts in the first inning of their game against Stevenson and didn’t stop until there were eleven runs on the board, resulting in a 15-0 three innings win for the home side to open a double header.
