A 19-year-old cat at a Cincinnati animal shelter, who went viral online Tuesday after the shelter hosted an adorable birthday party for her, has been adopted. Cincinnati Animal CARE staff held a birthday party for senior cat Sammy this week, Sammy said Sammy was looking for a nice, quiet home to spend his golden years. “But the only rule for the adoption of Sammy? You have to throw him a 20th birthday party on 06/15/22!” The shelter wrote on Facebook on Tuesday. The shelter also posted a video of Sammy on TikTok that received over 160,000 views. They said Sammy’s adopted child was waiting for him outside the shelter before it opened Wednesday morning. Staff said Sammy was going home with an older kitten. He was already pampered by his adopted child and even got a new hat. Cincinnati Animal CARE converted their colony room into Sammy’s senior center for the day. Cincinnati Animal CARE employees held a birthday party for senior cat Sammy this week.

On Wednesday, Cincinnati Animal CARE issued an update stating that Sammy’s adopted child had notified the shelter about Sammy before he became famous on the internet. They said Sammy’s adopted child was waiting for him outside the shelter before it opened on Wednesday morning.

Staff said Sammy was going home with an older kitten. He has already been pampered by his adopted child and even got a new hat as a present.
