Zelarayán scores 2 objectives, Columbus rallies to beat NYCFC 2-1 | Sports activities


HARRISON, NJ (AP) – Lucas Zelarayán scored two goals, including the added-time winner, and the Columbus Crew beat New York City FC 2-1 on Saturday night.

Eloy Room had three saves, including a dive stop of a shot by Jesús Medina from near the box for Columbus (2-2-2).

Zelarayán blew up a rising free kick Goalkeeper Sean Johnson froze under the bar and made it 1-0 in the 81st minute. He scored on another free kick – perfectly placed in the top corner of the net – in the fifth minute of injury time

Ismael Tajouri-Shradi kicked a roller with his side foot, which slid into the post and gave NYCFC (2-2-2) a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. Valentín Castellanos tossed a pass to Tajouri-Shradi, whose first hit was deflected into the net by defender Josh Williams.
