After losing their senior players, four more to the transfer portal, and two potential first-round picks via the NBA draft, the Arizona State Sun Devils took another step forward in responding to the players’ exodus by posting one on Thursday Acceptance of Toledo’s transfer Marreon Jackson received.
Jackson was the Central American Conference Player of the Year for 2020-21.
The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 18.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists while shooting 40% and 35% of three in total.
Jackson will have a chance to battle for game time in the back seat when Remy Martin and Alonzo Verge graduate and Jaelen House moves – he said on Twitter on Wednesday New Mexico and Grand Canyon are his options – and Josh Christopher will likely be selected in the NBA draft.
Holland Woods is also back on guard for ASU, while Luther Muhammad, an Ohio-based transfer who sat at Tempe last year, will also be in the mix for the season. This also applies to the transfer of Jay Heath from Boston College, who averaged 14.5 points over the 2020-21 period.
ASU hit the transfer portal hard when the players, which included wing Taeshon Cherry as well as greats Chris Osten and Pavlo Dziuba, went out of the running.
