Getting better exercise from riding doesn’t just mean better sleep and better mental health – studies show that biking can sharpen your focus and help children with ADHD.
TOLEDO, Ohio – Now that warmer weather is becoming a trend, doctors say it’s a good time to shake off some of that pandemic cabin fever and hit the road with the family.
Cycling is not only fun, but Dr. Jason Smith of Mercy Health says it’s great for weight loss and general fitness too.
“If we get stuck inside, it may have put a strain on our bodies and we might be carrying a few extra pounds with us than we used to be. If we go outside, you can start or restart an exercise program and feel healthy again,” she said Smith said.
It’s also the perfect time for everyone to connect while exploring new areas, but with relatively little risk of injury as cycling has little impact on your body.
“The positive effects of sunlight, vitamin D, and being outside from a mental wellbeing standpoint far outweigh some of the risks we see for exercise,” said Smith, “which can be joint pain or fatigue. “
Better exercise through horse riding doesn’t just mean better sleep and better mental health, as studies show that cycling can sharpen your focus and help children with ADHD when they move – or, in this case, drive – with a goal and goal in mind. There is also research showing that taking children out of the house for a ride to reset their brains after they are caught up in all of the technologies that make up such a large part of our daily lives today is helpful.
Doctors say cycling is also a great way to provide healthy activity for your children at a young age and to help them develop their lungs and heart.
