YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A bar in downtown Youngstown that officials say was the source of many problems has been closed, at least for the time being.
Crews boarded up the windows and doors of The Social Friday after a judge issued an injunction. The bar is located on the first floor of the Erie Terminal on West Commerce Street.

Earlier this week, Legal Director Jeff Limbian said the city would go to court that the establishment is being declared a “harassment” because of the ongoing problems of underage alcohol use, drug use and fights in the bar that take to the streets.
Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown was present when the workers took the business on board. He said it actually takes a lot to board up a business, but a judge agreed that it had to be done.
“Downtown Youngstown is a place where people come and enjoy and have a good time. This particular tenant decided he didn’t care, he was just for the money, ”Brown said. “Our investment is downtown, and we want to make sure we protect our investment and the people of Youngstown.”
Another hearing will take place later to decide whether the deal needs to be closed permanently.
