Protect winners Philadelphia Union play defending champs Columbus Crew to 0-Zero draw

Columbus had won three games in a row against the Union, including twice last season, both at home.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Andre Blake made six saves to help the Philadelphia Union break the season opener to a 0-0 draw against defending champions Columbus Crew.

Blake saved in the 59th minute and stopped in the 82nd minute for last season’s Supporters Shield winner.

Columbus had won three games in a row against the Union, including twice last season, both at home.

Philadelphia has only won two of its 16 visits to Columbus and has been without a win there in the last seven.

The crew have not allowed a goal in their last four games dating back to the 2020 postseason.
