Patricia Conklin Obituary (1929 – 2021) – Toledo, OH

Patricia A. “Patsy” Conklin

Patsy Conklin, 91 years old, went home on March 29th to be with the Lord. A living follower of Christ, Patsy went to heaven peacefully and joined many of her loved ones who preceded her in death, including her 47-year-old husband. Jim (d. 1998). Patsy was born on November 23, 1929 in Toledo to Margaret (Breniff) and Harold DeViney. She attended St. Charles, St. Ursula Academy, and the University of Toledo. She was honored as Homecoming Queen in 1948 and Glass Bowl Queen in 1949.

In 1951 she married her sweetheart James Francis “Jim” Conklin from Toledo. She and Jim had four children, Julie (Hugh) Jones of Chapel Hill, NC, Jim Jr., Andrew, and John, followed by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom they call “Chickie”.

Patsy briefly taught kindergarten along with a steady modeling career for local agencies and with Richland Furs of Blissfield, MI who starred in weekly show lunches at Hathaway House.

Everyone who knew Patsy received her smile, warmth, genuine interest and a bit of vibrant Irish charm. As a sociable Toledoan, she has never met a stranger! She had an artistic flair and followed her father, a skilled wrought iron worker, and her grandfather, the Toledo painter Jesse E. DeViney. In the middle of her life, she began studying the Bible in small groups and attending Washington Church.

Patsy passed her golden years as a beloved member of the Kingston of Sylvania Ward. Even when she graduated from Memory Care, she was a source of light and joy for many. We are very grateful to her Nurse Rachel at Ohio Living Hospice and all of the caring Kingston staff. At a later date, life service is celebrated, followed by her burial in the Calvary cemetery. Keep in touch with family for details or post inquiries and condolences We will miss you Patsy!
