Mount St. Helens Bluegrass Pageant to Be Held at Park in Toledo

The Mount St. Helens Bluegrass Festival will take place again this year on the weekend from August 13th to 15th. Toledo High School, the usual venue for the event, is currently under construction, so it will be held at the Kemp Olson Memorial Park in Toledo instead.

Due to the pandemic, last year the festival was canceled for the first time since its debut in 1984.

California bands Central Valley Boys and Crying Uncle will hit the headlines.

Fern Hill in Oregon, Kentucky Sky from Idaho and the Olympic Peninsula ensemble FarmStrong will also be featured at the festival. The event also includes workshops, a “band scramble” and open mics.

“We usually have a tour band or two from the east,” said Bruce Baskin, board member of the Washington Bluegrass Association, in a press release. “But bluegrass has grown so much that nobody has to look far to find good bands. There are tons of it on the west coast. It’s a really strong line-up. ”
