The Cleveland Browns began their claim as America’s team during a 2020 season that saw the franchise return to the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
The Browns reached another milestone on Monday in the inevitable march towards that goal with news that all three of their exhibition games will be shown to a national television audience in August.
NBC had previously announced that it would broadcast Cleveland’s third and final preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on August 29th. On Monday, the NFL Network decided to join in the fun and broadcast the Browns’ other two exhibition games to a national audience.
These games are part of 23 games that will be broadcast live on the NFL Network during the preseason.
The first game, on August 14th against the Jacksonville Jaguars at 7 p.m., that day will be part of a four-game slate for football junkies on the NFL Network. The other games will be that Chicago bears against the Miami dolphins at 1 p.m., the Minnesota Vikings against the Denver Broncos at 4 p.m. and the Los Angeles Rams against the Los Angeles chargers By 10 o’clock
The following week, the Browns launch an NFL network double headed ball when they get the New York Giants on August 22nd at 1pm, followed by the Chargers against the San Franciso 49er at 7:30 p.m.
These two games, along with the one against the Falcons, will give NFL fans across the country an early glimpse into the Browns, though it remains to be seen how many of the starter action will see. The nation may only have to wait until the regular season to see the full roster, as the Browns will play three prime-time games in Week 1 as well as nationally televised games against the Kansas City Chiefs and on Christmas Day against the against Green Bay Packer, this autumn.
The first two exhibition games will be broadcast locally on WEWS Channel 5 in the Cleveland Market.
