Minute Men Staffing ServicesThe midtown HR company in Cleveland plans to double the size of its headquarters on Carnegie Avenue.
The family business, one of the largest human resources companies in the country serving private employers, has been looking for a bigger real estate footprint for years. Now a document is sent to the Cleveland Town Planning Commission shows that Minute Men is choosing to grow its long-standing offices on-site with a three-story, 45,000-square-foot expansion. A city design review committee will review these plans Thursday, March 18, ahead of a Friday planning commission review.
Designs prepared by AoDK architecture show that the extension east of Minute Men’s existing 38,066 square foot headquarters on Carnegie Ave. 3740 will increase. The structures are connected by a glassy three-story connector flanked by courtyards. The new space will include offices, meeting rooms, training facilities, a café and a storage room.
The project also includes re-strapping and expanding parking to 382 vehicles.
Jay Lucarelli, President and CEO of Minute Men Inc., did not respond to requests about the expansion. The architect Greg Ernst, vice president of the Lakewood-based AoDK, was also absent.
“Obviously, keeping Minute Men here and growing and creating jobs is tremendous for Midtown,” said Jeff Epstein, executive director of a neighborhood nonprofit MidTown Cleveland Inc.. “You will enable more space on Carnegie. You have been a great MidTown partner dating back to our founding, and the Lucarelli family have been a cornerstone of MidTown from day one.”
Minute Men has hundreds of corporate employees and tens of thousands of workers in its workforce. It is unclear how many people have offices at headquarters.
The 53-year-old company, with clients across the Great Lakes region, works with companies to provide temporary and long-term staff, as well as recruiting, screening, training and payroll services.
In early 2020, Minute Men was widely expected to move to Cleveland’s Superior Arts District in the former Plain Dealer’s main building on Superior Ave. Would move in 1801. However, the company stepped back from a purchase agreement for the 235,000-square-foot office building home of the Advance Ohio news business and a handful of smaller tenants.
