Metropolis of Toledo | Seven Free Disposal Days at Hoffman Street Landfill…

This year there will be seven free disposal days at the Hoffman Road Landfill, up from four in previous years, starting on Saturday May 8, Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz announced.

The other six dates this year are June 5th, July 10th, August 7th, September 11th, October 23rd, and November 27th. The time is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Toledo residents are permitted to bring a truck or trailer load of bulky solid waste to the 3962 Hoffman Rd landfill for free disposal, subject to terms and conditions. Proof of residence in Toledo is required. Acceptable bulky items include excess trash, furniture, carpets, mattresses, scrap wood, and scrap metal. In addition, the second Engage Toledo Drop Off waste and recycling event of the year will take place on Saturday, May 1st, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Elementary, 500 Chicago St.

Acceptable items are electronic scrap; up to 10 tires on or next to the rim, but no commercial tires; Documents; Housewares; Dress; Toys; bulky items and refuse. Latex paint is accepted for $ 1 per gallon. Large devices are not accepted. The city accepts televisions and CRT monitors at all waste and recycling events. The times for each event this year will vary, which is new compared to previous years. There are visibly marked lanes for traffic flow as well as volunteers in identifiable clothing to help participants get to appropriate locations. Residents should follow all signs and instructions. The city has teamed up with The Greater Toledo Skills Center for the Engage Toledo Drop Off Garbage and Recycling events on May 15 at Rogers High School and June 19 at Scott High School. Durable medical equipment will be collected from The Ability Center on these dates. For a list of accepted items, see this link.
