CLEVELAND (WJW) – The City of Cleveland announced plans to cease sales of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine for now.
Several mass vaccination sites in northeast Ohio didn’t fire any shots this week after a break in J&J vaccine
The news comes after the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control recommended discontinuing use of Johnson & Johnson vaccines today after six American women, ages 18 to 48 years old, received an “extremely rare blood clotting event” had experienced the shot.
The city currently has fewer than 400 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and is awaiting “instructions from the Ohio Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on how to handle the remaining doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine,” said the city in a statement.
Pfizer and Moderna vaccines continue to be given across town as planned, and officials are urging residents to get vaccinated.

The city is also offering two vaccination sites this week open to all Clevelanders who register first:
- FRIDAY: Thurgood Marshall Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center, 8611 Hough Ave., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- SATURDAY: Cudell Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center, 1910 West Blvd., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
