Marie Frances (Brophy) Allard of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly Darien, died on January 18. She was 89 years old and suffered a stroke last spring. Marie lived most of her life in Salem, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary T. (McCarthy) Brophy. In their youth, she and her late sister Alice excelled in horse shows. Marie graduated from Regis College in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She and her husband Dr. Gilles Allard settled in Darien in 1960, where they raised their family. Marie volunteered and eventually became a broker. They were early members of the Middlesex Club and parishes of St. John and St. Thomas More parishes. In 1981 she and Gil returned to Salem, where Marie would stay for another three decades. She was married to Gil for 40 years until he died in 1993. Marie was known for her friendly exuberance and her passion for her family and education. She is survived by son Robert (Karen) from Cincinnati; Daughter Suzanne Allard Levingston (Steven) of Bethesda, MD; Nephew Kevin Reid of Salem; Grandsons James Allard, Sara Fangman, Elizabeth Allard, Katherine Levingston, and Benjamin Levingston; and great-grandchildren Dean and Brett Fangman.
