The Columbus Soccer Organization (CSO) is proud to announce its Volunteer of the Year, Todd Fishel United’s Coach of the Year, Todd Waldrop Adult Player of the Year, and CSO Collegiate Scholarship winners. All awards are based on CSO membership nominations, with the exception of the CSO Collegiate Scholarship, which is based on applications from individuals.

Every year the Columbus Soccer Organization recognizes one of its many volunteers as Volunteer of the Year. The award is a testament to the importance of volunteering to CSO and the contributions of each nominee. The VOY for 2020-2021 is Greg Remson.

In spring 2020 CSO presented the “Todd Waldrop Adult Soccer Player of the Year” award. Todd coached CSO recreational teams and was an avid part of the adult league. The award is given to an adult league player who best represents athleticism and love of the game, as Todd did. The winner for 2021 is Jimmy Parker.

The United COY Award is given to a trainer at competition level. Although it is an annual award, it is only given when a coach is considered truly deserved. Named after former United manager Todd Fishel, the award goes to a coach who goes beyond the high standards expected of all United coaches. For the 2021-2022 competition season, the COY is Jonathan Tuggle.

The CSO Collegiate Scholarship was created through generous donations in honor of Marolyn Albertson, grandmother of Columbus United coach Dave Albertson. Each year the scholarship is supported by local companies that sponsor CSOs. The aim of the scholarship is to continue to support those who played at CSO after completing their training. This is also a sign of the organization’s commitment to their players, even though they no longer pay registration fees. The 2021 CSO Collegiate Scholarship was awarded to Reagan Greenhaw.

The scholarship can be extended for up to three years. The fellowship for Coen Velek was renewed for 2021.
