COLUMBUS, Ohio – Many students are already back in the classroom while Columbus City Schools students are returning next week.

There are a couple of things kids need before they return. This includes a backpack, pencils and everything you need.

Thanks to the Sara Club-Columbus, the Starfish Assignment, and the Columbus Division of Police, they have worked to fill and distribute backpacks.

Both the children and the parents were happy about the gifts.

“It was very worth it. Just seeing the smile on my face, seeing the parents breathe a sigh of relief and say, oh my god, you’re handing out book bags, that’s one less thing to worry about. Then we can maintain that kind of connection because residents can see that they are taking care of them, ”said Shawn Lutz, officer of the Columbus Police Safe Streets Initiative.
