Columbus Police make arrest in lethal Gentian Boulevard taking pictures

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – The Columbus Police Department made an arrest for the fatal shooting that took place on Gentian Boulevard earlier this month.

According to police, Charise Douglas was arrested in connection with the shooting of John Anthony Johnson.

At 8:59 p.m. on May 1, 2021, police were called to 3860 Gentian Boulevard after it was reported that a person was on the ground.

When the police arrived, they discovered 38-year-old Johnson who had been shot. EMS officials tried to resuscitate Johnson but were unsuccessful in their attempt. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by Muscogee County’s assistant medical examiner, Elizabeth Allison.

According to police, investigations led to police establishing 31-year-old Douglas as a suspect in Johnson’s shooting. An arrest warrant for Douglas was issued.

Douglas faces charges of murder and possession of a gun or knife while committing a crime. She is due to appear in front of the Recorder’s Court at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday
