Cleveland Metropolis Council members maintain information convention to debate surge in carjackings


CLEVELAND – Cleveland City Council President Kevin Kelley and Councilors Kerry McCormack and Blaine Griffin will hold a briefing Friday to discuss Cleveland police prosecution and the rise in carjacking.

The press conference will take place at 2 p.m. in Lincoln Park in Tremont

Members of the council will discuss the recent surge in carjacking, the department’s response and the accountability of those responsible for the crimes.

Earlier this week, Cleveland police arrested three teenagers who allegedly ambushed dozen of drivers in Tremont.

The police said they were suspected of having committed between 30 and 40 carjackings across the region.
