A 97-year-old WWII veteran had his dreams come true this weekend after flying on a WWII plane. Veteran Staff Sgt. Jerry Roettgers was born and raised in Norwood, Ohio before serving in World War II. He received an award from the French Legion of Honor for his help in the liberation of France in Normandy. His dream since then has been to fly on a WWII plane, and that’s exactly what he was able to do at Lunken Airport on Saturday. Roettgers will be honored as a home town hero at the Cincinnati Reds game on Sunday.
