Duke Ragan fought for this moment all his life. “I gave FaceTime to my mom and told her dreams were coming true,” Ragan said. “I told her I was going to the Olympics and she just burst into tears.” Ragan grew up in the West End before graduating from Western Hills High School in 2015. Ragan has swung, trained and won for years, now beating his ticket to the Olympics by earning a place on Team USA. “I got the call that I qualified and it’s like a dream come true. That’s all I’ve ever wanted, my goal has always been to go to the Olympics, especially to win gold, “said Ragan. The goal is to win gold, but his motivation is much greater. Duke has trained with his family in Cincinnati before traveling to Tokyo for the 2020 Games, where he is ready to represent them and his hometown on the biggest stage. “There are many boxers in the world, including for me as an outstanding guy in the US team and being number one and representing my country and of course being from Cincinnati, Ohio is a huge motivator for me because I know a lot of people want to be there, “he said. “A lot of guys don’t really get their talent from Cincinnati, so I just want to stand up for these guys and give them motivation and hope.”
