Riverbend has hosted a summer musical festival in Greater Cincinnati for several decades. This weekend the musical tradition returns to the stage. The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra in Riverbend is one of the great traditions of Cincinnati and it didn’t happen last summer because of the pandemic. The concert is called Red White and Boom. “Our July 4th concert will be the first time our entire orchestra has stood shoulder to shoulder on stage,” said John Morris Russell, conductor. Russell said it was a great opportunity to share the eloquence of American musicals with the community. This is the first concert at the venue in more than a year. The capacity in Riverbend is approximately 20,000. The Pops offers free lawn tickets for children 17 and under and a five-dollar ticket for active and retired military personnel for the concert on Sunday.
